In this page, I will share the valuable lessons I’ve learned from my favourite hobbies: music, movies, and photography and how they have shaped my life.
Hobbies are not just the ways of passing time; they also shape one’s personality and teach quite a lot of valuable things which may prove to be useful in other spheres of life. In my case, music, movies, and photography all bring enjoyment and have taught me quite a lot of things. Here is what I have learned from them.
Listening to music has always been my escape. Whether I’m studying, commuting, or simply unwinding, my favorite playlists are always there to keep me company. Through its special way of moving the mind and soothing one’s emotion, music taught me mindfulness and emotional balance. A slow ballad or jazz music will rub off the stress, while an upbeat tune rock or pop will make me ready for my day. It also inspires my creativity; sometimes, I will listen to a song, and then I find myself thinking of stories or visual concepts that influences my creative projects. The other thing is that music unites people. Shared a few songs with friends or common concert experiences have brought me closer to them and more in tune with its ability to do so.
Movies have always amazed me in their ability to take one to worlds and places unimaginable. They’ve widened my knowledge of other people’s worlds: other cultures, other histories, other lives. The watching of foreign films or various documentaries has developed in me the feeling of empathy and opened my view to the world. Movies also taught me about storytelling. Great films show me how story structure, character development, and visuals interact, which helps my graphic design process. A great movie often inspires me sometimes about design, at other times about blogging, and sometimes about one of my personal objectives.
What started as a casual interest in photography has developed into a fulfilling hobby; it has further allowed me to look at the world through a different lens. Taking pictures gets me to stop, look, and reflect. Capturing a panoramic sunset or an unposed smile reminds me that it’s the little things that make life worth living. Another thing important in the art of photography is patience and experience: great photos usually take time, so learning to wait for perfect light or the angle taught me to be persistent. Besides, photography made me observant of even the minutest details: a shadow, the reflection of light, or even one splash of color bettered my creative work.
Each of them has had a different impact on my development. Music helps me concentrate and handle stress, whereas movies inspire creativity and build up empathy in me. Moreover, photography enhances my observation skills. All these activities together shape my character and academic performance, turning me into a more introspective and versatile individual.
